Day Two at AIDS2016: Name the Campaign Winner Announced

Day 2, (20 July) at AIDS2016 started off with a lively discussion about South Africa's National Campaign for Young Women and Girls. Several young women were featured during this session. They shared their stories, read poetry and sang songs encouraging other young people to use condoms.

The Minister of Health, Aaron Motseledi, announced the new name for the National Campaign for Girls and Young Women, "She Conquers". Meanwhile, in the global village, young people discussed their thoughts about adolescent access to HIV treatment, the importance of taking your medication and how to stop the spreading of HIV.

B-Wise was also introduced to adolescents and youth as a place to get health information and ask experts important health questions. We showed young people how easy it is to use the mobisite and how to register.

Inside the conference, Bill Gates shared information on who is most at risk to HIV and prevention methods that work. He said: "The largest generation in history is entering an age when they are most at risk of HIV", so young people need to practice safe sex and care for themselves more than ever. Sir Elton John, a famous singer from the UK, shared the importance of respecting people's human rights, including those who are part of the LGBTI community.
