Falling pregnant when you're young is a big deal!

Falling pregnant when you're young really is a big deal! You only need to have unprotected sex once to fall pregnant. And a girl can fall pregnant once she has started getting her period.

Falling pregnant when you're an adolescent can change your life.

Ask yourself some tough questions: Are you really ready to become a mom? Is he ready to become a dad? What will you do about school? What will your parents say? Will you family support you? Who will pay for the baby? Will you be able to get a job?

Imagine your life in 5 years' time, does a baby fit into that dream?

As you can imagine, pregnancy has consequences, good and bad! So keep these possible consequences in mind:

  • You and your baby can have more health problems during pregnancy and adolescent moms are at great risk of death during childbirth.
  • Having unprotected (sex without a condom) puts you at risk of getting HIV and sexually transmitted infections.
  • It is expensive to have a child, and that will affect the whole family.
  • You may have to drop out of school to care for your new baby and may never finish school or you may fail.
  • You may have to get a job to pay for your new baby.
  • An unwanted pregnancy can be very stressful. You may get teased at school, feel angry or sad.

Always remember, you have choices if you are pregnant

If you think there's a chance that you or your partner might be pregnant, get a pregnancy test as soon as possible. It can be done for free at your local clinic.

The sooner you test and find out if you are pregnant, the more choices you have in deciding how to handle the pregnancy or if you want to end it. Your clinic will help you make these choices.

Hi I recently found out that I am pregnant and I'm a varsity student. I told my mom that I'm pregnant at first she was angry but she forgive me... The guy that impregnated me he is focused on his "family business" he doesn't have time for me and he never goes with me when it's my appointment with my gynecologist

I'm currently 19 years old and pregnant with my second baby. I've mtriculated at least. I don't know what my parents would be saying about me having my second child. My babies father is paying all the baby stuff and buy everything himself we don't rely on others to care for our child. But I don't know how to tell my parents. I'm already 5months pregnant.
