What could help my concentration?

Have you ever found it hard to focus when studying? It’s very easy to get distracted. But your work needs to get done… so what’s the solution?

If you’re struggling to focus, try these four strategies:

·         Don’t drink too much caffeine.  Caffeine (which is in coffee and tea) can help you concentrate. But stick to one cup a day, and drink it before 3pm. Too much caffeine can stop you from sleeping, and it will be hard to concentrate or study the next day.

·         Turn off distractions. Put any phones or other technology in a different room while you study. If you get distracted by radios, TVs or people talking, try to find a quiet place to study on your own.

·         Eat less sugar and more protein. Sugar (in sweets and fizzy drinks) can make you lose focus and make you tired more quickly. Rather fill up on foods which are good for your brain like eggs, meat and whole wheat bread.

·         Do one task at a time. If it helps, make a list of things you need to get done, and cross them off as you finish them. This can help you to focus on one thing at a time, rather than getting overwhelmed by everything you have to do.
